Stephen Cindrich
Executive Advisor
Stephen Cindrich, MBA, is an Executive Advisor with Cope Health Solutions. He is a health insurance expert with significant experience in establishing, managing, and optimizing provider-owned health plans. For more than 20 years, Mr. Cindrich has served in leadership roles for both national and regional health insurance companies, including two aligned with prominent healthcare systems.
Mr. Cindrich recently served as President and CEO and a member of the Board of Directors for OhioHealthy Medical Plan, a provider-sponsored health insurance company and a joint venture he developed between Sentara Healthcare and OhioHealth Corporation. Under his leadership, OhioHealthy achieved a 95%-member satisfaction score and reduced the rate of medical expense growth by 50% over three years culminating in a 1% medical cost trend.
Mr. Cindrich served as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for Sentra Healthcare, where he led joint ventures between health systems to improve value-based arrangements through population health services and payer collaboration. He also served as Director of Strategic Business Development for Sentara Health Plans, where he led the enterprise-wide implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Prior to Sentara Healthcare, Mr. Cindrich led marketing and product innovation for Humana, Inc; he directed the nationwide rollout of the company’s individual insurance products and enabled the acquisition of 250,000 in-force members in less than six years.
Mr. Cindrich is presently a member of the Executive Advisory Board of Joy Research, Inc, an artificial intelligence-enabled mental health service for young adults. He earned an MBA from the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Computer Science and Communications at Clarion University.
